| Our
Mission
In the spirit of Jesus our Lord, Willow Brook Christian Communities
seeks to enable older adults to live to their fullest potential
by providing housing, facilities, and services, delivered with compassion
and love...
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to
all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
--Galatians 6:10
History
In the late 1960's, a group of Church of Christ members gathered
together to start a not-for-profit ministry of serving the elderly. In March of 1972, the trustees purchased a small 25-bed
nursing home at 55 Lazelle Road called Will-O-Lock Haven. In 1982, an
expansion brought the nursing home's capacity to 50 people, and the name of the facility was changed
to Willow Brook Christian Home. A new assisted living wing was added in 2005, for residents who just need a little help to live comfortably. The rooms are all private, with private baths, and several suites for one or two people to share are also available.
In 1990, Willow Brook Christian Village was formed on a 31-acre
parcel of land just south of the city of Delaware, Ohio. Willow Brook Christian Village is home to 163 residents in twin-single homes and apartments, 43 people at The Centrum assisted living center, 30 in Cherith, the skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, and 22 in Passages, the wing dedicated to the loving care of residents with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. An adult day
care program operated by Heritage Day Health Centers operates
in the lower level of The Centrum. This program allows caregivers
relief during the day while their loved one is provided care, meals,
and activities.
Another retirement community, modeled after Willow Brook Christian Village, is under construction on 48 acres off Route 36
on the west side of Delaware. Reservations and deposits are being accepted throughout the construction phase of the project, and more than 74 percent of the twin-single homes have already been reserved.
We are thankful for the many people who have helped us along the way, and they are all very dear to our hearts. We believe the finest tribute we can give them is to continue our mission, and to provide the finest, most professional and most loving of living options available to seniors in Central Ohio.
