Whew! We made it through the holidays. With all the parties and dinners and get togethers and shopping, January’s calm is a welcome change of pace. This month marks my 37th anniversary with Willow Brook. I started out in 1975 as administrator of tiny little Willow Brook Christian Home when it was only 25 beds. Just look at it now! It has been expanded twice and has become a sought-after haven for our older friends caught in the storms of old age. And, in our spare time, we have built two full-blown retirement communities in Delaware. In 1975, if I had been dropped into the seat I now occupy, I would have failed miserably. But I have just sort of grown up with Willow Brook, and it is a natural fit. It has turned into an incredible journey, and I am so glad you are a part of it all. As we move into the New Year, Willow Brook is alive and well. We have suffered twin blows as the Medicaid and Medicare programs are being down-sized. Despite the reductions, though, we are doing well. I have only good wishes for you as we move through 2012. The year will have its triumphs and challenges, and probably a few surprises, but this time next year, I predict we’ll be checking off another good year.
With love to all, Larry Harris, CEO
